WEBSITE

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, is a Delaware based program that provides educational resources and food assistance to eligible individuals and families. SNAP makes sure everyone in Delaware has access to healthy foods and education about healthy behaviors.

SNAP, client of AB&C, was in need of a new mobile website. Having worked with AB&C before and launched their first site with them, they wanted to stick to a similar style and design but update it. I took on the role of graphic designer for the site to give SNAP a newer and cleaner look with a more identifiable branding.

I wanted to make the site more friendly and less intimating to those looking for a healthier lifestyle. I wanted it to feel like a safe space for parents and kids to reference. I remembered a book I read as a child that had pictures by a photographer that liked to create things out of food.

In this book in particular, he made animals out of fruits and veggies. I took this idea of personifying the food to site to get that friendly tone across. Often, government aided sites and initiations can have a lot of confusing wording that’s overwhelming to readers. Breaking up that information and simplifying it through language and illustrations seemed like the best way to 1) get it across, and 2) provide the branding and personality SNAP was looking to exemplify.
